All Community Members,
On behalf of the organizing committee of the 2578 Buddha Jayanti (Birth Anniversary) celebration in New Hampshire 2016, We would like to extend to you a most heartfelt invitation to our event, the 2578 Buddha Jayanti. It is our hope that you will honor us with your presence on this historic occasion, the 4th ever such community cultural event to take place in New Hampshire.
The daylong event will inspire spiritual seekers aspire for global peace, emotional wellbeing, brotherhood and spiritual enlightenment. It will bring together Nepalese Americans and Bhutanese-Americans from around the country, which have been separated for years, and will teach the youth about our culture and be a source of strengthening for our elders. This event will also help New Americans for meaningful integration in the mainstream community.
We have found a welcoming home in New Hampshire, where we are free to practice our religions and live by our culture, while also becoming hardworking citizens and contributing members of the community.
We would be delighted if you would accept our invitation to join us at the spiritual event so that we can have an opportunity to thank you. Thank you so much for all of your support.

It was with great sadness that New Hampshire Nepali Community (NHNC) received the news about the disastrous earthquake of magnitude 7.8 (Mw) at 11:56 NST on Saturday 25 April 2015, with the epicenter approximately 29 km (18 mi) east-southeast of Lamjung, Nepal, and the hypocenter at a depth of approximately 15 km (9.3 mi) which claimed thousands of lives, and razed houses, schools, roads and Centuries-old buildings in the UNESCO World Heritage sites in the Kathmandu Valley, including some at Kathmandu Durbar Square. Subha Saanjh ‘ra’ namaskar! A kindled joy to witness 20 pupils to joint the first Nepali language, culture, art etc. class here at Nashua. Turnover exemplar ! Many thanks to all parents to bring their siblings early cold Sunday AM.
Instructors: Anita Pokharel, Nabin Khanal and supervision of children group Dr. Pushpa Joshi and all attendees.
Instructors devised two groups
- attending school
- not attending school
As written earlier this is a ‘pilot project’ that will be replicated to other venues in New Hampshire. I have attached few ‘kodak memories’ of today (Click here). Applaud and thank you all! And another ‘breaking news’ Kalpalata Adhikari at her initiation to organize ‘senior citizen gathering’ once a month at her residence. An astounding genesis! more details will follow with date and program. Last but not least for our ‘khel premi mitra haru’. We have been struggling to find a place for winter games. Hemendra ‘mama’ Khadga collaborating with Madhav Gurung and all of us is closing in a search for a venue where we can play ‘ping-pong’ and loosen our-self. Hopefully, we can close this deal and erase our aches and pain (muscle stagnating in winter). Subha ratri ra namaskar!
Students interested to attend class on language, culture etc. of Nepal is on the rise. The volunteers have also decided to hold two separate groups:
- Students who are not attending school now
- Students who attend school
Som Gurung (NHNC Gen. Secretary) is also eager to volunteer as a teacher. As of now the first class will commence from 12/8/2013 (Sunday). Please call, email, or contact us at here if your children want to attend.
