Appeal for Help

It was with great sadness that New Hampshire Nepali Community (NHNC) received the news about the disastrous earthquake of magnitude 7.8 (Mw) at 11:56 NST on Saturday 25 April 2015, with the epicenter approximately 29 km (18 mi) east-southeast of Lamjung, Nepal, and the hypocenter at a depth of approximately 15 km (9.3 mi) which claimed thousands of lives, and razed houses, schools, roads and Centuries-old buildings in the UNESCO World Heritage sites in the Kathmandu Valley, including some at Kathmandu Durbar Square. Tremors were felt throughout the country including major tourist destinations like Pokhara, Gorkha, Janakpur, and across the region, with further loss of life in India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, and Tibet.
